Trump Approached Elon Musk About Buying Truth Social: Report
‘POLITICS AND BUSINESS’
Former President Donald Trump was looking to find a buyer for his social media site, Truth Social, last summer—and even approached Elon Musk about cutting a deal, according to The Washington Post. The sale never panned out, but the conversation between the two billionaires shows they’ve communicated more than previously known—just days after the pair reportedly met in Palm Beach. The Post also cited Trump advisers who say the two men have spoken several times about “politics and business” over the past few years. Immediately following reports of their meeting earlier this month being made public, Musk said he would “not [be] donating money to either candidate for US President.” The Tesla CEO has in recent months expressed support for right-wing politicians and policies—including a particular appreciation for hardline immigration enforcement. When approached by the Post, a spokesperson for Trump Media, which owns Truth Social, said: “We heard Trump and Musk were actually discussing buying the Washington Post but they decided it had no value.”
