President Trump’s budget chief was caught on a recording saying that Sen. Ted Cruz might lose his re-election bid and suggested he’s not likable enough, the New York Times reports. Mick Mulvaney, along with Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniels, was at a closed-door meeting for donors on Saturday when he made the remark. The newspaper reports that Mulvaney assured donors that the the GOP will not be pulled under by a “blue wave” but that some Republicans could lose races. “There’s a very real possibility we will win a race for Senate in Florida and lose a race in Texas for Senate, O.K.?” Mr. Mulvaney said on the recording obtained by the Times. “I don’t think it’s likely, but it’s a possibility. How likable is a candidate? That still counts.”
