Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski tweeted on Friday a hoax article that jokingly suggests that Hillary Clinton is paying protesters several thousand dollars to show up at Trump rallies. “Donald Trump Protester Speaks Out: ‘I Was Paid $3,500 To Protest Trump’s Rally,’” is the title of the article produced by ABCNews.com.co, the deceptively titled website that lists its main contact as “Fappy The Anti-Masturbation Dolphin.” Consider Lewandowski’s uncritical promotion of the article a symptom of running a campaign based on the idea that what you see on the Internet must be true.
As of 7:00 p.m. ET, Lewandowski deleted the tweet.
