According to a report in The New York Times, President Trump told congressional leaders a story on Wednesday to validate his repeated false claim that he would have won the popular vote if not for millions of "illegals." In the story, Trump cites an instance in which Bernhard Langer, a professional golfer and native of Germany, was allegedly attempting to vote in Florida on Election Day and was then told he wasn't able to do so. As the story goes, Trump says that Langer allegedly saw other people who "did not look as if they should be allowed to vote" and were allowed to do so. Trump allegedly referred to Langer as his friend while telling the story, but his daughter told the Times that they were not friends and that Langer is a German citizen who thus can't vote in the U.S.
