The Trump administration on Friday sent a memo barring all congressional travel during the government shutdown that has not been explicitly approved by the White House. “Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government owned, rented, leased or chartered aircraft support any congressional delegation, without the express written approval of the White House Chief of Staff,” the memo declares. “Nor will any funds appropriated to the Executive Branch be used for any Congressional delegation travel expenses, without his express written approval.” The memo, sent by Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russell Vought, comes just a day after Trump effectively canceled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming trip to Brussels and Afghanistan.
