President Donald Trump announced Friday that the first lady will not be accompanying him to the highly-anticipated Singapore summit because she is under doctor’s orders not to fly, reports The Washington Post. “Can’t fly for one month, the doctors say,” Trump said. “She had a big operation. That was close to a four-hour operation.” The first lady’s health has been the subject of extensive speculation in recent weeks, after the White House announced on May 14th that she had undergone an embolization procedure to treat a “benign” kidney condition. She has since reappeared, the Post reports, attending a FEMA meeting with her husband and hosting a reception for families of fallen service members. Melania Trump addressed the speculation herself on May 30, tweeting that “I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I’m doing. Rest assured, I’m here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!” During the Friday announcement, Trump gestured towards the White House while telling reporters that his wife was “doing great.”
