Donald Trump boasted Sunday morning that “one of the biggest gatherings” in Washington, D.C. history will be held at Lincoln Memorial this July 4, despite the fact that many already celebrate Independence Day there. “HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called “A Salute To America” and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial,” Trump tweeted shortly before 8 a.m. Celebrating America’s birthday on the Lincoln Memorial is not novel. Washington.org, in fact, lists the memorial as having one of the best “vantage points “ for watching the fireworks display. The memorial, meanwhile, is on the west end of the National Mall, which hosts many celebratory events. In the same Tweet, Trump highlights what his extravaganza will include, writing “Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!”
