President Trump has “total confidence” in his senior adviser—and son-in-law—Jared Kushner, he told The New York Times, in a new report. Kushner has come under fire in recent days over a report that he tried to create back-channel connections between Trump’s team and Russia that could shield them from public view. “Jared is doing a great job for the country,” the president said. “I have total confidence in him. He is respected by virtually everyone and is working on programs that will save our country billions of dollars.” He added, “In addition to that, and perhaps more importantly, he is a very good person.”
