President Trump told a crowd of supporters Wednesday that he prefers to have wealthy people handling the nation’s economic issues. At a campaign-style rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the president bounced a few policy ideas off the crowd before remarking on the presence of Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross at the event. Recalling that someone asked him why he appointed a “rich person” to handle the economy, Trump said, “These are people that are great, brilliant business minds.” “I love all people. Rich or poor. But in those particular positions, I just don’t want a poor person. Does that make sense? If you insist, I’ll do it—but I like it better this way,” he said.
