President Trump went off-script in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night and said he wanted to see the “largest numbers ever” of legal immigrants entering the country. “I want people to come into our country, in the largest numbers ever, but they have to come in legally,” he said during the speech. As written, Trump was supposed to read: “I want people to come into our country, but they have to come in legally.” The president also made a case for a “smart, strategic, see-through steel barrier” along the border by referencing violence that allegedly happened Monday in New York City at the hands of an MS-13 gang member.
