Trump: I’m ‘Seriously Considering’ Ben Carson for HUD

Because he “loves people!”

Several days after Ben Carson reportedly took himself out of the running for any Donald Trump Cabinet positions, the president-elect publicly declared that he is “seriously considering” the retired neurosurgeon to head up the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. “I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD,” Trump wrote on Tuesday afternoon. “I’ve gotten to know him well—he’s a greatly talented person who loves people!” HUD oversees the enforcement of fair-housing laws, develops block grants to support low-income housing, and provides mortgage and loan insurance to incentivize affordable housing. Trump did not indicate which skills or experiences from Carson’s professional past would make him qualified for such a role.
