Trump in 2015: Meryl Streep Is ‘Excellent’

“She’s a fine person, too.”

Despite a Monday morning Twitter rant against actress Meryl Streep, Trump has previously praised the actress as one of his favorites. During an August 2015 interview with Hollywood Reporter, Trump was asked if he "loved" any actresses. "Meryl Streep is excellent," Trump replied. "She's a fine person, too. The problem is I'll name three or four or five and then the hundred that I know will be insulted, and I don't mean to insult them." During Sunday night's Golden Globes awards, Streep used some of her stage time to criticize the president-elect and his comments against a disabled New York Times reporter. On Monday, Trump tweeted about Street three times, calling her "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big." He doubled down on his remarks during a Monday morning call with The New York Times.
