President Donald Trump posted a letter from Kim Jong Un on Twitter Thursday, writing that the North Korean leader had sent him a “very nice note.” The president referred to the dictator as “Chairman Kim” and wrote, “Great progress being made!” He also posted a translation of the letter into English. In the missive, Kim wrote that the summit between the two leaders in Singapore was “indeed the start of a meaningful journey” and that he appreciated Trump’s “energetic and extraordinary efforts” towards the “faithful implementation of the joint statement.” Kim also wrote that he believed the “strong will” and “unique approach” of the president would open “up a new future between the DPRK and the U.S.,” and that he was hoping their “next meeting” would come forward soon. This comes as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently met with North Korean officials in Pyongyang, and as Trump is set to meet with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
