President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Marc Kasowitz sent a threatening email to a stranger who taunted him over a ProPublica story about how Kasowitz’s past struggles with alcohol abuse might be preventing him from seeking a security clearance. According to ProPublica, Kasowitz sent the man an email that read in part: “I’m on you now. You are fucking with me now. ... Watch your back, bitch.” In another email, Kasowitz wrote: “Call me. Don’t be afraid, you piece of shit. Stand up.” The recipient of those messages, whom ProPublica did not identify, sent an email to Kasowitz with the subject line, “resign now,” after seeing ProPublica’s initial story about Kasowitz’s alcohol abuse featured on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show. Kasowitz apologized later Thursday in a statement, with his spokesman saying he “intends to apologize to the writer of the email.” Another Trump lawyer, Michael Cohen, similarly threatened a Daily Beast reporter in 2015.
