President Donald Trump on Tuesday moved to end special protected status for Liberian immigrants living in the United States. “Liberia is no longer experiencing armed conflict and has made significant progress in restoring stability and democratic governance,” Trump said in an official White House memorandum. Liberians, some of whom have been in the United States for decades, will now have one year to return to Liberia before facing deportation here.
