Trump Nixes Broadcom’s Bid to Take Over Qualcomm

President Donald Trump on Monday issued an executive order to block Broadcom’s bid to take over Qualcomm due to national-security reasons. It would have been a $117 billion deal. In his executive order, Trump said he has reason to believe that Broadcom, a Singapore-based company, “might take action that threatens to impair the national security of the United States” if it acquired Qualcomm. The president’s decision comes after the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. recommended that he block the deal.
