President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence made an unscheduled trip to mark Monday's federal holiday by visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial. After the two led a moment of silence and laying a wreath, Trump told reporters: "Good morning, everybody. Great day. Beautiful day. Thank you for being here. Appreciate it." The entire visit lasted less than two minutes.

Trump also honored the civil rights leader on Twitter, saying: "Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for standing up for the self-evident truth Americans hold so dear, that no matter what the color of our skin or the place of our birth, we are all created equal by God."
