Donald Trump praised the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a 2014 interview as “so smart.” In an interview on ABC News this past weekend, he didn’t seem to know that the country had invaded. “Interestingly, I own the Miss Universe pageant,” Trump said in 2014 before praising Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We just left Moscow. He could not have been nicer. He was so nice and so everything. But you have to give him credit, that what he’s doing for that country in terms of their world prestige is very strong.” Recently, Trump has come under fire for his campaign’s perceived proximity to the Russian president.
