Donald Trump returns to power today after raising a record $250 million in donations around his inauguration, according to a report. Sources familiar with the very soon-to-be-president’s fundraising efforts told ABC News that the staggering total includes cash given to the official Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee along with donations to other large fundraising vehicles involved in arranging other inaugural celebrations over the weekend. The $250 million total dwarfs Trump’s $107 million inaugural fundraising haul at the start of his first time. This time around, Trump has had a little help from new friends including tech billionaires Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Sam Altman. Tesla chief and Trump’s so-called “first buddy” Musk contributed a reported $277 million to back Trump and Republican candidates during the 2024 election. Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and Uber have all forked out $1 million in inaugural donations. Cryptocurrency fat cats have also made large donations to Trump’s inaugural committee, while Bank of America and Boeing have also dug deep.
