Donald Trump suggested the First Lady was willing to share him after Elon Musk declared his “straight man” love for the president on Friday.
While apparently taking a break from his bid to remake the federal government, the tech billionaire confessed on X, “I love @realDonaldTrump as much as a straight man can love another man.”
The amorous outburst has been viewed more than 35 million times (and counting).
On Friday afternoon, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy confronted the president about what Musk’s declaration means for his marriage to Melania Trump.
“Elon Musk says, ‘I love Donald Trump as mush as a straight man can love another man.’ What does the First Lady think of that?” Doocy asked at a press conference, while Trump was fielding questions alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
The president didn’t miss a beat in shooting the playful question down.
“Oh, I think she’ll be OK with it,” he fired back, “somehow.”
Ishiba, who was visiting the White House to discuss trade between the U.S. and Japan, didn’t offer any commentary of his own on Doocy’s question.
Bromance aside, Trump and Musk have emerged as a two-headed force of chaos in the first few weeks of the new regime.
Trump has tested the limits of the executive branch’s power by firing off a deluge of brazen executive orders, including attempts to end birthright citizenship and purge the government of DEI policies. He has also threatened to slam U.S. allies Mexico and Canada with steep tariffs.
Musk, meanwhile, alongside his team of baby-faced engineers at the Department of Government Efficiency, has sparked outrage from Democrats for gaining access to sensitive government records. This includes the federal payment system, which distributes Social Security checks.
Between the two of them, the onslaught of disruptions to America’s political norms shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.
