President Trump on Friday defended Rob Porter, a White House aide who resigned this week after allegations surfaced from two ex-wives that he battered them. The president told reporters that he “found about it recently” and he “was very surprised by it [...] It’s obviously a tough time for him.” Trump also said Porter “says he’s innocent and I think you have to remember that [...] but we absolutely wish him well.” Porter resigned from his post as staff secretary on Wednesday after the allegations became public.
