Trump Slams ‘Brutal’ EU for Generously Extending Brexit Deadline
Has He Been Following This?
In a late-night tweet, President Trump attacked the ‘brutal’ European Union after they agreed to extend the Brexit deadline once again. Shortly before midnight in Washington, Trump tweeted, “Too bad that the European Union is being so tough on the United Kingdom and Brexit. The E.U. is likewise a brutal trading partner with the United States, which will change. Sometimes in life you have to let people breathe before it all comes back to bite you!” In reality, the E.U.’s 27 member states agreed to extend the Brexit deadline until October 31 with a review of the situation at a June 30 Brexit summit. The official Brexit deadline of March 29 has been twice extended by the E.U. after British Prime Minister Theresa May failed to pass the deal she negotiated with the E.U. in British parliament.
