President Trump attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Monday morning, slamming the Democratic leader for standing up for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). “Before Nancy, who has lost all control of Congress and is getting nothing done, decides to defend her leader, Rep. Omar, she should look at the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and ungrateful U.S. HATE statements Omar has made,” Trump tweeted. “She is out of control, except for her control of Nancy!” Trump’s comments come after he was widely criticized this weekend for attacking Rep. Omar, using a misleadingly edited video clip to suggest that she characterized the September 11 attacks as “some people did something.” As a result of Trump tweeting a clip of 9/11 footage interspersed with Omar’s comments, Omar said she’s received “an increase in direct threats on my life.” Pelosi harshly criticized Trump for attacking Omar on Saturday, tweeting that “It is wrong for the president, as commander-in-chief, to fan the flames to make anyone less safe.”
