Donald Trump’s many past sexist remarks were made “as a television character,” and are thereby invalid as an argument against his candidacy, national spokesperson Katrina Pierson said Tuesday. After Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked Pierson about a new anti-Trump super PACs ad rattling off the candidate’s chauvinistic quotes about various women. “A lot of those statements is what Mr. Trump made as a television character,” Pierson responded, “so I don’t think that some of that is going to stick. Everyone knows who Mr. Trump is; that’s why they’re having a very hard time, spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to redefine who Mr. Trump is.”
