The Trump transition team sent out a request for all the State Department's information on departments and initiatives focused on gender equality, sparking fears that those programs and their employees could be purged from the department, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. “It’s not clear to us what the intent is behind this request,” a State Department official told the Post. “The Trump team could be looking to advance gender issues and make it a priority—or you could look at it as a witch hunt.” The Trump team touched off similar concerns last week in the Energy Department, where it requested information on climate change officials, a possible sign that those employees and their initiatives could be cut under the Trump administration.
