President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will name his pick to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy on July 9, according to the Associated Press. The president, who was speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, also said he’s narrowed his list down to about five candidates, including two women–but may interview as many as seven. “It’s a great group of intellectual talent,” he remarked. NBC News also reports that he plans on interviewing one or two of those candidates while he is in New Jersey this weekend—but won’t ask any of the candidates about their stance on abortion, saying that it'd be “inappropriate to discuss.” Justice Kennedy, widely known as the Supreme Court’s swing vote, announced his intention to retire this week.
