The Republican debate began Thursday evening with Rand Paul shouting at Donald Trump. Fox News Host Bret Baier's first question was more of a request: would any candidate unwilling to pledge that he would not endorse the eventual Republican nominee, or that he would not run as a third party candidate, raise his hand? Only one hand went up: the orange-hued one belonging to The Donald.
As Trump assured Baier that he understood the implications of such an answer, Rand Paul, sensing an opportunity, pounced, shouting: "He's already hedging his bets because he's used to buying politicians!"
Trump retorted by saying he had contributed to Rand, so perhaps Rand wasn't the best person to lob such a criticism. Nick Confessore, of The New York Times, Tweeted: "I actually don't see any contributions in our database from Trump to Rand Paul…However, it looks like Trump has contributed to Rand Paul's medical charity."
