President Trump appears to have confirmed that the U.S. will unleash missile strikes on Syria after Russia warned that it would retaliate if the U.S. was to launch an attack. A Russian official warned earlier Wednesday that American missiles would be downed and the sources of the strikes could be attacked if there is a U.S. missile attack against Syria. On Twitter on Wednesday morning, Trump hit back: “Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’ You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” The deepening crisis in Syria comes after a chemical attack suspected to have been carried out by President Assad affected 500 people and killed over 70.
