Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson slammed “The media” and alleged that journalists are trying to rebrand Vice President Kamala Harris as “Martin Luther King in a different body.” During an interview on the Tucker Carlson Show that aired Thursday, Carson dismissed Harris’ polling gains with Black voters, claiming that they are the result of journalists who want to turn her into a “godlike” figure. Harris’ presidential campaign shattered fundraising records and caused a spike in voter registration in the first 48 hours of her entering the race after President Joe Biden dropped out on July 21. Regardless, Carson insisted that despite Harris’ race, Black Americans would still flock to his former boss, Republican nominee Donald Trump, because they wouldn’t “be as easy to manipulate as that.” Carson also recycled Trump’s false claim that the vice president is a “marxist,” but admitted that she “absolutely” could win in November.
