Two women have sued Trump ally and ex-Florida congressman Matt Gaetz over accusations that he engaged in an alleged sex trafficking operation while he was still a member of Congress.
The lawsuit, first reported by the Miami Herald, alleges that the former MAGA rep and two others—former state legislator Chris Dorworth and former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg—participated in the “recruitment and sexual exploitation” of the plaintiffs, identified as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2.
Greenberg and Gaetz were both accused of having “coordinated the recruitment, payments, drugs, and travel to obtain commercial sexual acts from young women,” while Dorworth is said to have “knowingly participated in these events” at his Central Florida home, according to the civil complaint filed in federal court.
Gaetz told Politico he would vigorously contest the allegations brought forth in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit said the alleged incidents occurred between 2017 and January 2019, when Jane Doe 1 was 20, and Jane Doe 2 was 22.

Greenberg, 42, is a convicted felon currently serving an 11-year federal sentence after he pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor, aggravated identity theft, and stalking.

He withdrew his nomination to serve as the country’s top prosecutor in November 2024 amid a House probe into sexual misconduct allegations, which included accusations that he solicited prostitutes and had sex with a minor.
The House Ethics Committee report released a month later cited “substantial evidence” that Gaetz had allegedly had sex twice with a 17-year-old girl in 2017, while he was more than twice her age and a working member of the House.

Greenberg cooperated with federal investigators probing Gaetz, but the DOJ never filed charges against him.

Jane Doe 1 corroborated the House report’s accusation in the complaint, alleging that she witnessed Gaetz having sex with a girl who was 17 at the time. The girl, who is not a plaintiff, was identified in the suit as “Victim A.”
Gaetz did not immediately return the Daily Beast’s request for comment. In a statement after news of the lawsuit first broke, he said: “I look forward to taking the plaintiffs’ depositions because much of the conduct alleged against me is false. The lawsuit relies almost exclusively on a Congressional Committee Report that didn’t allow me to confront my accusers. Now I will finally have that chance.”
The MAGA firebrand, who represented Florida’s first congressional district from 2017 until his resignation in 2024, seemingly doxxed the Jane Does by sharing a screenshot of an Instagram post on X.
“Jane Doe strikes again!” he wrote, sharing a photo depicting three women in bikinis with their backs turned to the camera.

He continued, “Two adult women sued me today alleging they were sex trafficked to the Bahamas. I’m shocked nobody responded to their repeated cries for help, posted to instagram.”
Florida lawyer Spencer Kuvin, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Jane Does 1 and 2, replied that Gaetz was only making matters worse for himself.
“Please keep posting things. We are copying everything to make sure to show it to the Federal Judge,” Kuvin wrote. “Thank you! If you have counsel please advise so we can get you served...unless you are ready to accept service.”
