Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was transported to the hospital after feeling sick, his son Flávio announced Tuesday. “President Bolsonaro felt unwell a short while ago, with a severe bout of hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure,” the younger Bolsonaro, a senator, wrote on X. “He was taken to DF Star accompanied by correctional police officers who guard his home in Brasília, as it was an emergency. I ask for everyone’s prayers so that it is nothing serious.” The disgraced president’s wife, Michelle, wrote on Instagram later Tuesday that he was on intravenous medication after having had some tests done. “Everything will be all right!” she said, per CNN. The 70-year-old former president was just in the hospital on Sunday for tests and to remove skin lesions, according to CNN Brasil. He has also had several hospital stays recent years resulting from a 2018 stabbing to his abdominal area. Last Thursday, Bolsonaro was found guilty and sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for plotting a military coup to stay in power after his 2022 election loss to left-wing rival Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He has been under house arrest since August.
