Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev appeared in federal court Wednesday and pleaded “not guilty” to 30 charges, including use of a weapon of mass destruction, which could carry the death penalty. The 19-year-old’s family gasped and cried when he entered the room, according to reporters, and before leaving the courtroom, Tsarnaev blew them a kiss. He hasn’t appeared in public since being wounded in an April 19 shootout with police that killed his brother, Tamerlan. The April 15 bombings killed three people and wounded more than 250. The trial is expected to take three to four months.
