A dog and his owner, who had been separated after the devastating Japanese earthquake and tsunami, are well on the way to being reunited today. Rescue workers found the dog floating on the roof of a house almost two kilometers (1.2 miles) off the Japanese coast. The dog’s name is “Ban” and she lived with her master in Kessenuma, in the Miyagi prefecture, before the disaster. Ban’s 50-year-old owner saw footage of the brown-and-black dog being unloaded from a boat in the Shiogama Port this past Friday. The Miyagi Animal Care Center says it still has possession of more than a dozen cats and dogs that have been rescued in recent weeks.
