Move over, Beth Ditto. There’s a new fashion icon in town, and his name is Henry VIII. Instead of understated styles this season, Tudor is officially in. Brocades, velvets and bone-stiffened bodices popularized by movies like The Other Boleyn Girl and the Showtime series The Tudors have made their way to the runways. Fall 2009 collections debuted at Paris Fashion Week, like Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel, featured ruff collars and frilly silks. The Dow may be tanking, but the fashion houses say otherwise—the original definition of luxury is back.
