Two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the U.S. embassy in Tunisia’s capital city on Friday, according to officials. In a tweet, the embassy in Tunis confirmed there had been an explosion near the building and urged people to “avoid the area and monitor local media for updates.” Tunisia’s Radio Mosaique first reported that that five police officers were wounded in the attack, and the government later said that a civilian was also hurt by the explosions. According to the New York Times, the attackers sped toward a police truck on a motorcycle before detonating their bombs. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
