Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi declared a state of emergency on Saturday, saying the country is "not safe" from extremists. The declaration gives government forces more flexibility and authority in the wake of a Islamist gun attack that killed 38 tourists last week on a beach. That includes closing down almost 80 mosques operating without official authorization and putting scores more mosques under review for possible closure.
