An Istanbul court sentenced six people on Friday to life in prison for their involvement in a deadly Islamic State terror group attack on the city’s main airport in 2016 that killed 45 people, Turkey’s state-run news agency reports. The accused were convicted of premeditated homicide as well as contravening the Turkish constitution. The attack was carried out by suicide bombers and was one of several attacks in Turkey blamed on ISIS extremists. The defendants in the trial included Russian, Algerian, Tunisian, Egyptian, Syrian, and Turkish citizens.
