TV Land will stop airing reruns of The Dukes of Hazzard, a network spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday. The spokesperson did not specify why the episodes were pulled but speculation is that it invovles the show’s 1969 Dodge Charger, named “General Lee” and adorned with a Confederate flag on top. Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced last week that it would no longer be licensing toys or replicas of the General Lee earlier. Original Dukes of Hazard actor Ben Jones (who was also a Republican congressman) recently came out in defense of the flag, saying “we know that in Hazard County there was never any racism.”
