Is the sky falling?! First the Internet deprives us of Gchat, and now Twitter too? At 8 a.m., Google Talk—better known as “Gchat”—wasn't working, prompting Google mail users to flip out. Then, around 11:40, Twitter went black too, forcing people to go to actual news websites for breaking news and preventing them from venting about this morning's blackouts in 140 characters or less. Shortly after noon, Twitter spokesperson Rachel Bremmer told the Associated Press, "We're aware of the issue and are looking into it," but didn't say what might have caused the outage. Gchat has since been restored.
