      Anderson Cooper is the most popular journalist on Twitter.

      The American TV journalist and host of Anderson Cooper 360° beat second-place finisher Piers Morgan by more than a million followers, according to a list released today by the website MuckRack.com.

      Cooper's 4,613,769 followers represent an increase of 34% over his 2012 totals. Morgan has 3,889,204.

      Also on the list: Rachel Maddow (with 2,793,204), Adam Schefter (with 2,604,054), and Larry King (with 2,463,758).

      Sixth place goes to Bill Simmons, seventh to Chris Hardwick, eighth to Erin Andrews, and ninth to George Stephanopoulos.

      Dr. Sanjay Gupta, with 1,756,331, is #10.

      MuckRack also reported that the New York Times has the most journalists on Twitter, with 502 tweeting reporters, editors, and photographers. Reuters was just shy of the lead with 496.

      Justin Bieber, meanwhile, is closing in on 50 million followers (FIFTY MILLION!). Please excuse us while we go cry in a hole.
