Two Americans were killed in battle in Syria while fighting ISIS militants. The men, 28-year-old Robert Grodt and 29-year-old Nicholas Alan Warden, were part of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, a U.S.-backed militia also known as the YPG. Grodt and Warden were fighting in Raqqa, the terror group’s capital and longtime stronghold. Grodt met his wife at the Occupy Wall Street protests in 2011, and the pair had a daughter a year later. In a YPG video, Warden said the terror attacks in San Bernardino, Orlando, and Paris motivated him to travel to the region to fight ISIS.
