A Christmas-themed train carrying dozens of children fatally hit two pedestrians in Massachusetts on Saturday night while conducting a final dress rehearsal ahead of the holiday season. Cape Cod Central Railroad, the train’s operator, said in a statement that the “Train to Christmas Town” was giving free rides to first responders and their loved ones when the accident happened in the city of Wareham. The victims have been identified only as a 33-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man who were walking down the train tracks in the area. “No passengers were injured in this incident and the staff did their best to distract the children from the sad reality which was occurring outside,” Cape Cod Central said. Children on board the train, which was carrying 355 passengers, were reportedly told the train was stopped because it had run out of “magic gas.”
