President Obama met with Peruvian President Alan Garcia at the White House Tuesday, while right outside, two women staged a protest that ended in arrest. A 41-year-old woman poured black liquid on her 20-year-old daughter, who had chained herself to the fence. The Secret Service and several other saftey agencies responded by cordoning off the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Avenue. Spokesman Max Milien said the women were protesting the Peruvian government’s sale of land to oil companies. They were charged with disorderly conduct and defacing government property.
