After eight years on the books, Texas lawmakers have voted to end steroid testing for high school students. The testing program has cost $10 million dollars to collect thousands of samples, but only a handful of cheaters were caught. The vote on Friday removed all funding for the program from the budget. Texas initially created the program in response to fears that the drugs were growing in use among teens under pressure to succeed in football. Illinois and New Jersey are the only remaining states with testing programs in place.
