The United Arab Emirates said Monday that one of its fighter jets went missing after a mission against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, the state news agency reported. The official WAM news agency announced the plane’s disappearance without giving any further details. The lost plane is the first known case of an Emirati jet going missing in the Saudi-led coalition’s assault, which began last March. A Bahraini F-16 jet crashed in Saudi Arabia due to a “technical error” in December, but the pilot was saved and the wreckage was found. Officials didn’t say what type of jet was lost, but the UAE air force operates both F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighter jets.
