New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration dropped its demand that Uber cap the number of cars in the city. The win for Uber comes after a heated public war over a city council bill that would've limited the number of cars out of congestion fears. Uber purchased television ads and pushed messages to customers on their app—even creating a "De Blasio's Uber" feature that would take people nowhere. The city agreed to conduct a four-month study on how Uber and similar services affect traffic and the environment. City officials said a ride cap remains a possibility in the future.
