The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team defeated Notre Dame 63-53 for the national championship Tuesday, landing Huskies Coach Geno Auriemma his 10th NCAA Tournament title. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Moriah Jefferson each scored 15 points to help the Huskies win their third consecutive title, and 10th overall. Auriemma joins legendary UCLA men's coach John Wooden to hold the record of 10 national championships in basketball in a 12-year span. The Fighting Irish lost the championship for the fourth time in five years, including last year’s defeat, also by UConn.
