Britain is launching what is thought to be the first-ever clinic for treating stalkers in an effort to prevent the ever-growing problem. Stalking is thought to be on the rise in Britain, where, according to a survey, one in five women and one in 10 men ages 16 or over are stalking victims. A new treatment center, the National Stalking Clinic, is thought to be truly unique because it will be treating stalkers, not punishing them. Dr Frank Farnham, a psychiatrist involved with the new clinic, said: "The psychological impact on victims is corrosive, with many suffering months and, in some cases, years of harassment, leading to a variety of illnesses including anxiety, depression and posttraumatic stress.”
