In what can only be seen as a desperate last-minute effort, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron is racing to Scotland on Wednesday to try to persuade voters to vote “no” on an independence referendum in eight days. Cameron is joined by the leaders of the three other major parties, including Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats, and Ed Miliband, the opposition Labour Party leader. In an opinion piece in the Daily Mail, Cameron wrote, “Let no one in Scotland be in any doubt: We desperately want you to stay; we do not want this family of nations to be ripped apart.”
