The prime minister of Ukraine has sent a bill to parliament to set the country on the path towards NATO membership. Arseny Yatsenyuk is pushing for Ukraine’s non-aligned status to be canceled. The news comes as NATO begins holding emergency meetings following its release of satellite images of Russian troops operating within Ukraine. (Russia has denied sending soldiers, of course.) Ukraine tried to join NATO last year, but ditched the efforts under pressure from Russia.
